FRAMON HOTELS is part of the Franza Group, which, after years of activity in the construction and shipping sectors, was amongst the first to see the opportunities for development of tourism in Sicily.

The Franza Group's main areas of activity are:
•	Shipping: the group runs ferry services across the Straits of Messina (from Messina to Villa S. Giovanni), from Milazzo to the Aeolian Islands and from Messina and Catania to Salerno.
•	Tourism: the group owns and/or manages the properties of the Framon Hotels group.
•	Construction: activities also include property trading and management. The holding company Cofimer S.p.A. heads the group.

A SHORT HISTORY OF THE FRANZA GROUP AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ITS TOURISM SECTOR

After starting off in the construction sector in the 1950's, the franza group began to diversify in the 1960's with its entry in to the shipping sector, which was at the time focused on the ferry services across the straits of messina.
Today this activity is managed by cartour s.p.a. after the merger with caronte s.p.a.. over the years the turnover from the ferry services has provided the group with a solid base for its development, allowing it to diversify and expand into the industry, design and tourism sectors.
The group's debut in the tourism sector came in 1977 with the management of the royal palace hotel in messina and in 1994, under the framon hotels logo, a long-term plan for the formation of a national hotel chain was begun.the tourism and shipping sectors today make up the core business of the franza group.
